Job summary

Delta-Denta in Missouri is seeking a Data Science Intern to work on AI-powered solutions in a Microsoft Azure environment. You will gain hands-on experience across Python, ML, NLP, CV, and automation, contributing to real-world dental insurance challenges.

The internship runs full-time for about four months, averaging 40 hours per week. You will collaborate with senior data scientists, build backend services, and help test and evaluate AI systems while learning industry best practices.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in CS, data science, or related field.
• Experience with Python and ML libraries.
• Familiarity with data visualization tools.
• Knowledge of APIs, SQL, and backend basics.
• Interest in AI, NLP, CV and testing.
• Experience with Azure and cloud services.
• Understanding of responsible AI practices.

Responsibilities

• Support AI agent development for dental operations and benefits inquiries.
• Build Azure Functions and backend services to orchestrate AI workflows.
• Develop automated evaluation tests to measure AI accuracy.
• Improve prompts, data retrieval, and tool integrations.
• Apply computer vision, NLP, and LLMs to projects.
• Automate workflows to reduce manual tasks.
• Collaborate with business users to gather requirements and feedback.
• Document workflows and evaluation results for maintenance.
