Job summary

Metric Bio, in partnership with LatchBio, is seeking an AI Biologist specializing in Medical Countermeasures. This fully remote, global role requires hands‑on vaccine/antiviral experience and strong scientific judgment to evaluate AI‑generated conclusions against experimental data.

You will translate complex biological workflows into rigorous benchmarks, work with scientists and engineers, and help set gold‑standard evaluations across viral research domains.

Qualifications

• PhD in Immunology, Virology, Microbiology or a related scientific discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
• At least 3 years of hands‑on experience in either vaccine/antibody development or antiviral development.
• Strong expertise in vaccine design, immunogen engineering or therapeutic antibody discovery; epitope mapping, neutralisation and cross‑reactivity; comparative evaluation using experimental data.

Responsibilities

• Develop scientifically rigorous tasks and benchmarks covering vaccine antigen design, immunogen comparison, therapeutic antibody discovery and antiviral development.
• Analyse experimental datasets including neutralisation titers, binding and epitope maps, serology time courses, EC50 values and viral sequence data.
• Establish gold‑standard answers and evaluation criteria accounting for assay variability and experimental uncertainty.
• Assess AI‑generated conclusions around viral escape, antibody resistance, antiviral susceptibility and cross‑reactivity.
• Distinguish genuine biological signals from assay artefacts, experimental noise and unsupported interpretations.
• Evaluate AI interpretations of binding vs neutralisation, immunogenicity and protection, and lab vs clinical relevance.
• Collaborate with scientists and engineers to build and improve AI‑driven benchmarking workflows.
