Job summary

Principal International is seeking an early-career engineer to join the AI Automation team in Des Moines, IA. You’ll learn quickly, work with AI tools, and turn emerging technology into real solutions that speed up work and improve security.

You’ll build AI-powered automations, guide AI agents, and integrate enterprise systems while collaborating with business and tech teams to identify impactful problems worth solving. This role blends learning with hands-on impact.

Qualifications

• Associate or bachelor’s degree (preference in CS, tech, engineering or math) or equivalent experience.
• 2+ years of software development, automation, technology, or related experience.
• 2+ years of experience working with AWS (GCP or Azure experience also welcome).
• 1+ years of hands-on experience with agentic software development workflows.
• A solid grasp of programming fundamentals and APIs.
• Curiosity, problem-solving mindset, and ability to explain ideas clearly.

Responsibilities

• Build AI-powered automations, agents, and tools that remove manual work and reduce risk.
• Direct AI coding agents to create applications and integrations, and review what they build.
• Connect enterprise systems using APIs and cloud services.
• Experiment with new AI capabilities and help decide what’s worth scaling.
• Partner with business and technology teams to spot problems worth solving.
