Job summary

Nordstrom, Inc. is hiring an Engineer 2 for the AI Agentic Solutions team, focusing on building agentic components, integrating LLM APIs, and advancing context engineering within production services.

The role requires design ownership, collaboration with senior engineers, and a strong foundation in CS fundamentals. You will contribute to tool-use integrations, retrieval steps, and orchestration logic, while learning to log events, publish metrics, and participate in on-call rotations to maintain

Qualifications

• 2+ years of professional software engineering experience.
• Hands-on experience with LLMs or foundation model APIs (OpenAI, Anthropic, Google).
• Experience building or contributing to AI agents or agentic workflows.
• Understanding of context assembly for agents within token, latency, and cost constraints.
• CS fundamentals and production-grade tech stack with cloud-native development on AWS and/or GCP.
• Familiarity with LangGraph, CrewAI, Semantic Kernel, Claude Agent SDK, or OpenAI Assistants API.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Design and build agentic components with tool-use integrations and orchestration logic.
• Contribute to context engineering work and determine what an agent sees within constraints.
• Integrate LLM APIs, embeddings, vector stores, and agent frameworks into production services.
• Participate in on-call rotations and root-cause analysis.
• Lead work processes and design reviews and discuss trade-offs with teammates.
