Job summary

Exelixis is seeking an Engineer II - AI and Agentic to design, build, and deploy production-grade agentic applications that automate complex IT and business workflows. You will integrate LLMs, tools, APIs and enterprise data sources, and drive secure, scalable AI solutions.

Responsibilities include CI/CD, observability, and contributing to platform patterns, while collaborating with product managers, security, and platform teams to translate needs into technical solutions.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, AI, Data Science, Software Engineering, or related field with 5 years experience; or Master’s with 3 years.
• 2–4 years of relevant experience in AI applications, data science, automation, or related technical work.
• Hands-on experience building or contributing to LLM-enabled applications and agentic workflows.
• Strong collaboration and mentoring abilities with cross-functional teams.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver end-to-end agentic applications and multi-agent workflows.
• Convert prototypes into production-grade services with robust tests and error handling.
• Integrate LLMs, prompts, tools, APIs, and enterprise data sources into reliable use cases.
• Implement CI/CD pipelines, evaluation harnesses, observability, and versioning.
• Author architecture notes, runbooks, SOPs, and technical documentation.
• Lead prompt/spec reviews, code reviews, threat modeling, and release-readiness gates.
• Apply secure-by-design and responsible AI practices; data governance and privacy.
• Contribute reusable components and internal libraries to the platform.
• Partner with product managers, security, and platform teams to translate business needs.
