Job summary

Cityblock is building an AI-powered platform enabling agents to operate our systems safely under oversight. You will design and mature the foundation that every engineer uses to build agents and scale the care platform.

You will own the harness, sandboxing, permissions, observability, and audit trails, ensuring safety and auditability in a regulated health environment. This role reports to the Director of Engineering, Platform.

Qualifications

8+ years of experience as an engineer.
Hands-on builder of agent systems with depth to run them well.
Experience building agent orchestration or tooling including MCP, runtimes, harness design.
Deep working knowledge of cloud infrastructure and infrastructure-as-code (GCP and Terraform).
Designed for safety and governance: RBAC, sandboxing, audit trails, autonomy boundaries, rollback.

Responsibilities

Build the AI foundation and agent harness used by other teams.
Make internal systems API-ready for agents and design MCP servers, context systems, and agent registry.
Define autonomy tiers and how actions are supervised and rolled back.
Shape reliability, security, and compliance posture of the platform and collaborate with the platform team.
Automate operational toil to keep the platform fast as it scales.
