Job summary

Orbis Operations is building the agentic AI capability its operations run on, and the AI Agent Engineer builds and operates it. Sixty percent of this role is common to every AI Agent Engineer at Orbis: designing, building, and deploying the multi-agent workflows behind triage, data retrieval, summarization, reporting, and escalation routing.

The remaining forty percent is this role's focus - how Orbis employees get their work done with AI.

Qualifications

• Must have 5+ years translating user requirements into wireframes, workflows and such.
• Must have 1-year proven experience utilizing Claude or similar commercial offering to build AI agents.
• Demonstrated experience building a functioning multi-agent workflow with design rationale and hand-offs.
• Proficiency with prompt engineering including retrieval-augmented generation and tool/function calling.
• Ability to describe technical work to non-technical stakeholders and elicit requirements from non-spec sources.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy agentic AI workflows in production.
• Explain system behavior and limits to non-technical stakeholders.
• Partner with process owners to tailor capabilities to operations.
• Monitor production workflows, diagnose failures, and resolve issues.
• Own the cost of execution and optimize prompts, caching, and deterministic steps.
• Document runbooks and SOPs for operations.
• Integrate workflows across Orbis products (Catalyst, Pulse, Discovery).
• Deliver leadership reports on metrics like resolution and escalation rates.
