Job summary

Orbis Operations in McLean, VA is building an AI Agent Engineer role to design, build, and operate multi-agent workflows and the cloud platform that runs them. You will own the footprint across GCP, AWS, Cloudflare, and Azure, managed as code, with security and run-cost controls, scalable to volume growth.

Qualifications

• 5 years of proven experience translating user requirements into workflows.
• 1 year proven experience utilizing Claude or similar AI agents.
• Experience building a functioning multi-agent workflow and explaining design rationale.
• Prompt engineering including retrieval-augmented generation (RAG) and tool or function calling.
• Ability to explain technical work to non-technical audiences and elicit requirements from stakeholders.
• Troubleshooting agent workflows built on Claude, GPT-class models, LangChain, AutoGen, or CrewAI.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and deploy agentic AI workflows.
• Explain systems to non-technical stakeholders and translate plain language into workflows.
• Collaborate with process owners to fit capabilities and push back if needed.
• Monitor production, diagnose failures, and resolve issues.
• Own the cost of execution and optimize prompts, caching, and findings.
• Define quality standards, human review checkpoints, and escalation criteria.
• Document runbooks and SOPs for operations and troubleshooting.
• Integrate workflows across Orbis products (Catalyst, Pulse, Discovery).
• Deliver reporting metrics on resolution rate, escalation rate, accuracy, and response time.
• Close capability gaps by scoping, building, or engaging engineering/product.
