Job summary

EY is seeking a sophisticated, production‑focused AI/ML engineer to build long‑running agents and enterprise integrations. You will design deterministic workflows, orchestration, and safety controls while delivering observable, auditable behavior in complex systems.

The role blends applied AI, distributed systems, and product engineering, requiring hands‑on experience shipping agent‑driven workloads and a strong command of Python/TypeScript. Travel up to 50% and hybrid office work are expected.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s Degree in a relevant field of study.
• Strong experience in software or applied machine-learning engineering with ownership of live production systems.
• Hands‑on evidence of shipping large-language‑model applications, agents, or complex model‑driven workflows.
• Strong capability in Python, TypeScript, or another language used for production services and integrations.
• Experience with model APIs, structured outputs, retrieval, tool use, and evaluation of variable behavior.
• Practical command of asynchronous work, state, concurrency, idempotency, retries, and failure recovery.
• Experience implementing access boundaries and scoped authority for applications or automated workloads.
• Evidence of improving live systems through traces, metrics, logs, incident analysis, and durable remediation.
• This role requires up to 50% travel and hybrid in-office work.

Responsibilities

• Choose the right execution model and design agent architectures.
• Build dependable tools with clear contracts, validation and safe error handling.
• Engineer agent behavior across planning, routing, delegation, stopping, retry, and handoff.
• Create durable context combining instructions, user state, retrieval, memory, and environment feedback.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities, credentials, budgets, and emergency containment.
• Evaluate complete trajectories with tests for verified task success, tool use, and recovery.
• Operate long‑running execution with durable state, checkpointing, and safe retries.
• Make behavior observable with end-to-end tracing and replay to diagnose failures.
• Protect user control with clear intervention points for inspection and interruption.
• Build shared capability by collaborating across teams and publishing reusable patterns.
