Job summary

EY is hiring for an AI/Applied ML engineer focused on building long-running agents and enterprise integrations. You will design deterministic workflows, create durable agent behavior, and ensure secure, observable operations across complex enterprise deployments.

Ideal candidates have 7–9 years in software or applied ML engineering, hands-on delivery of large-language-model apps, and strong Python/TypeScript production skills. Travel up to 50% in a hybrid capacity.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree required in a relevant field.
• 7-9 years of software or applied ML engineering with ownership of production systems and live behavior.
• Hands-on evidence of shipping large-language-model apps, agents, or complex model-driven workflows.
• Strong capability in Python, TypeScript, or another language used for production services and integrations.
• Experience with model APIs, structured outputs, retrieval, tool use, and evaluation of variable behavior.
• Experience with asynchronous work, state, concurrency, idempotency, retries, and failure recovery.
• Experience implementing access boundaries and scoped authority for applications or automated workloads.
• Evidence of improving live systems through traces, metrics, logs, incident analysis, and durable remediation.
• Willingness to travel up to 50% and work in a hybrid capacity.

Responsibilities

• Choose the right execution model for agents and workflows.
• Build dependable tools with clear contracts and safe error handling.
• Engineer agent behavior including planning, routing, delegation, and retry logic.
• Create durable context with instructions, user state, memory, and environment feedback.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities and budgets.
• Evaluate complete trajectories with tests for verified task success and recovery.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state and safe rollback.
• Make behavior observable with traces and replay for failures and improvements.
• Protect user control with intervention points for inspection and redirection.
• Build shared capability by partnering across teams and publishing reusable patterns.
