Job summary

EY seeks a high‑impact AI/Applied ML engineer to build agents that carry work from intent to verified outcomes. You’ll engineer execution loops, tools, context, permissions, and runtime controls across complex workflows while keeping systems understandable and safe.

The role sits at the intersection of applied AI, distributed systems, and product engineering, tackling long-running behavior and enterprise integrations with a hybrid work model and strong compensation.

Qualifications

• Production engineering and distributed-systems judgment for dependable services.
• Experience with planning, tools, state, handoffs, and coordination in AI systems.
• Experience with model APIs, structured outputs, retrieval, memory and evaluation of variable behavior.
• Ability to measure complete trajectories and verified outcomes for complex systems.
• Strong instincts for least privilege, tool boundaries, observability and resilience.
• Ability to balance quality, latency, cost, and user control and explain trade-offs clearly.

Responsibilities

• Choose the right execution model and design agent architectures.
• Build connectors and interfaces with clear contracts and error handling.
• Engineer agent behavior: planning, routing, delegation, retry, handoff.
• Create durable context: user state, retrieval, memory, environment feedback.
• Bound agent authority with scoped identities and budgets.
• Evaluate complete trajectories with tests for task success and recovery.
• Operate long-running execution with durable state and safe retries.
• Make behavior observable with end-to-end tracing and replay.
• Protect user control with clear intervention points.
• Build shared capability by collaborating across teams.
