Job summary

Horace Mann is seeking an Agency Consultant to lead, coach, and develop new agents as they build successful, sustainable agencies in local markets. The role is highly visible, hands-on, and requires working closely with agents to establish strong business practices and growth strategies.

You will travel up to 80% of the time, provide performance coaching, help agents execute business plans, and connect resources to empower agents to reach sales targets and build long-term value for Horace Mann.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in business or related field or equivalent.
• 3+ years of field sales, agency leadership, or business consulting experience.
• Knowledge of repeatable sales processes, business planning, and coaching.
• Active Property & Casualty and Life & Health licenses.
• Willingness to travel approximately 80% of the time.

Responsibilities

• Lead, coach, and develop new agents as they build sustainable agencies.
• Serve as a hands-on business coach and strategic partner to new agents.
• Help agents establish strong business practices, sales disciplines, and processes.
• Develop and execute agency business plans with clear goals and priorities.
• Work in the field with agents to demonstrate prospecting, school-based activities, and sales presentations.
• Analyze agency performance and identify opportunities to improve sales and profitability.
• Collaborate with recruiting to support transitions from recruitment to agency launch.
• Coordinate with Horace Mann resources to maximize agent growth and long-term value.
