Job summary

The Tampa YMCA is seeking an Afterschool Counselor to support safe, engaging afterschool programming for school-age youth in Tampa. You will mentor participants, foster self-esteem, and reflect YMCA core values in daily interactions.

Responsibilities include supervising activities for 20–25 students, maintaining accurate attendance, and upholding quality program standards while following all safety and risk procedures. Must complete required trainings within set timelines.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older or older.
• High School Diploma or GED preferred.
• At least one year of experience working with youth or in a related role.

Responsibilities

• Oversee a program group of 20–25 students and maintain staff-to-child ratios.
• Greet and communicate with children, parents and staff professionally at all times.
• Implement developmentally appropriate activities and maintain a positive, respectful environment.
• Complete required reports and maintain attendance and time-logging procedures.
• Model Tampa YMCA core values and ensure safety and risk management procedures.
