Job summary

The Tampa YMCA is seeking an Afterschool Counselor in Tampa, FL to support safety, well-being and development of participants in the after school program. You will mentor youth and uphold the Tampa YMCA mission while engaging families and staff.

Responsibilities include supervising 20–25 students, maintaining attendance records, greeting families, delivering age-appropriate activities and completing reports on time. Commitment to core values is essential.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older and have a High School Diploma or GED (preferred).
• Minimum of one year experience in school, community, volunteer or work experience involving youth.
• Must be able to work cooperatively with children, parents and peers; demonstrate character, integrity, adaptability and patience.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a program group of 20–25 students with staff ratio at all times.
• Greet children and maintain professional courtesy with parents, facility staff and clients.
• Supervise activities and ensure developmentally appropriate practices for age groups.
• Complete reports on time and use time/attendance software.
• Uphold the Tampa YMCA core values and code of conduct.
