Job summary

The Y is seeking an Afterschool Staff member for Vermont’s Brookside program, Monday through Friday from 2:00 PM to 6:00 PM. You will support the Program Director in delivering enriching activities for children ages 5 to 12, helping create a safe, engaging, and inclusive environment.

You’ll contribute to youth development and healthy living initiatives, participate in professional development, and enjoy Y membership perks and program discounts.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years of age.
• High school diploma or equivalent.
• Ability to pass a federal background check and state fingerprinting.
• At least 6 months of experience working with children.
• Have reliable transportation for consistent attendance.

Responsibilities

• Ensure Safety: supervise participants, take attendance, maintain clean spaces, follow emergency procedures.
• Engage: participate in program activities including swimming or field trips, deliver content in a fun, relatable manner.
• Grow: keep up first aid/CPR and required trainings; maintain BFIS account and personal file.
• Support: communicate concerns to the Program Director; substitute at other sites as needed.
• Collaborate: attend staff meetings and contribute ideas to enhance program quality.
• Be a Professional: interact with participants, staff, and families with respect and care; keep time cards accurate.
