Job summary

YMCA of the Triangle in Apex, NC seeks a Youth Counselor Apprentice to lead, mentor, and build positive relationships with youth participants after school. You will plan developmentally appropriate activities and foster a fun, safe environment at Oakview, South Lakes and West Lake sites.

This role requires 18+, a High School Diploma or GED, enrollment in Wake Tech’s Apprenticeship program, and availability 3:30 p.m.–6:00 p.m., Monday through Friday.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years or older.
• High School Diploma or GED required.
• Enrollment in Wake Tech Apprenticeship program required.
• Experience with children and youth programs preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage youth participants after school.
• Plan culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate activities.
• Model safe, respectful behavior and mentor participants.
• Maintain communication with site staff, families, and partners.
