YMCA Of The Sandhills in Cameron, NC is hiring an After School Counselor to supervise a group of children and provide a quality experience aligned with YMCA core values.

This part-time position requires a high school diploma, up-to-date CPR/First Aid/AED, and a valid NC driver’s license; 21+ age; and prior child-care or camp experience.

You will plan activities, ensure safety, attend trainings, and build positive relations with families and staff.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent; college preferred.
• Experience working with children, preferably in a day camp setting.
• Valid NC driver’s license; CDL required.
• At least 21 years of age.
• CPR, First Aid, AED certifications, Child Abuse Prevention training within 90 days of hire date.
• Previous experience with diverse populations preferred.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a group of children.
• Plans and implements program activities that are culturally relevant, developmentally appropriate and consistent with YMCA values.
• Adheres to program standards including safety and cleanliness standards.
• Maintains proper maintenance on vehicles; such as, fueling, cleaning and regular maintenance upkeep.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Follows YMCA policies and procedures, including those related to: medical and disciplinary situations, child abuse prevention and emergencies.
• Maintains positive relations with parents and other staff.
