Job summary

Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges is seeking a part-time program staff member to support before/after-school activities in Livingston, New Jersey. The role emphasizes safety, supervision, and positive youth development within a YMCA setting.

You will maintain attendance, support curriculum, and help with daily operations while complying with licensing rules and YMCA policies. CPR/First Aid certification is required and prior supervision experience is preferred.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; college credits/degree preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels including staff, parents and school staff.
• Ability to problem solve and make decisions aligned with YMCA mission.
• Strong organizational and planning skills.
• 1-3 years supervisory experience.
• 1-3 years working with children in a group setting in before/afterschool programs.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required.
• Experience adhering to Licensing requirements.

Responsibilities

• Maintain attendance for students and staff; manage rosters, licensing paperwork and payroll reports.
• Ensure child safety by following supervision standards and accurate head counts.
• Verify authorized sign-in/out and record times.
• Complete First-Aid and incident forms; manage health-related documentation.
• Lead staff through group management and discipline policies.
• Guide and supervise group leaders/assistants; assign daily responsibilities.
