Job summary

Think Together in California seeks a Substitute Program Leader for a part-time role, assisting with homework, enrichment and physical activity using program materials. You will work at multiple sites, fostering a welcoming environment while guiding students and maintaining safety and discipline.

Requirements include a high school diploma or GED, availability Monday–Friday, and English literacy. A Live Scan background check and TB test are required, with roughly 1:00 PM–6:00 PM hours, year-round.

Qualifications

• Experience working with young children and ability to inspire and motivate.
• Proof of graduation from High School or GED is required.
• Ability to speak and write standard English appropriate in a public school setting.
• Available at least 5 days a week (Mon-Fri).
• Must pass Live Scan background check and provide a TB test; may require math/English testing.

Responsibilities

• Provide homework assistance, academic enrichment and physical activity using provided curriculum.
• Create an engaging environment that fosters belonging for students.
• Support positive behavior choices and disciplinary measures when needed.
• Engage children by following and assisting lesson plans.
• Ensure student safety during setup, activities and site maintenance.
• Promote positive interactions between volunteers and students per safety guidelines.
• Take attendance and review sign-in/sign-outs for students and volunteers.
• Identify student needs and communicate with Site Coordinator, teachers and parents as appropriate.
• Commit to a full-year program with punctuality and accurate time cards.
• Participate in staff development activities.
