Job summary

New Settlement Apartments in the Bronx seeks an Assistant Program Director for After School Programming to support the Program Director in daily administration, supervision, and delivery of a DYCD-funded program. The role ensures safe, inclusive, youth-centered activities aligned with contract requirements and organizational policies.

The position requires an Associate degree and at least two years in after-school settings, with supervisory experience preferred; bilingual English/Spanish skills

Qualifications

• Associate degree required; bachelor’s degree preferred in education, social work, human services, recreation, child development, or a related field.
• Minimum of two years of experience working in an after-school, school-age childcare, education, recreation, or youth development program.
• At least one year of staff supervision or program coordination experience strongly preferred.

Responsibilities

• Support the day-to-day operation of the afterschool program, ensuring services are delivered in accordance with DYCD contracts, program goals, enrollment targets, regulatory requirements, and organizational policies.
• Monitor program activities, participant supervision, staffing ratios, facility readiness, and daily site operations to ensure a safe, organized, and high-quality program environment.
• Assist with staff recruitment, onboarding, training, professional development, and performance management.
• Monitor staff attendance, preparedness, professional conduct, and compliance with organizational and regulatory requirements.
• Support coaching, documentation, and corrective action processes as needed.
