Job summary

The Metropolitan YMCA of the Oranges is seeking a part-time program assistant to support attendance tracking, safety, and daily activity supervision for school-age children. You will help maintain records, sign-in/out, and follow YMCA protocols for health and safety in a fast-paced school setting.

The role emphasizes strong communication, organizational skills, and a genuine commitment to promoting healthy living and kid-centered activities.

Qualifications

• High School Diploma required; college credits/degree preferred.
• Strong interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with all levels.
• Ability to problem solve and make decisions that adhere to the purpose, mission and goals of the YMCA.
• Strong organizational skills and planning abilities.
• 1 year supervisory experience.
• 1-3 years working with children in a group setting in Before/Afterschool programs.
• CPR, First Aid and AED certifications required.
• Mantoux test within two weeks of hire; background checks as required.

Responsibilities

• Assist with attendance tracking for students and staff daily.
• Ensure safety of children by following supervision standards.
• Manage sign-in/out with authorized guardians and record time.
• Follow YMCA protocols for First-Aid and emergencies.
• Lead activities, snacks, homework support and supervision.
• Promote YMCA programs and plan events.
• Maintain clean, sanitary environment and report maintenance issues.
