Job summary

East Side House in Bronx is looking for an Assistant Program Director to support daily operations of afterschool programs, supervise staff, and deliver safe, engaging activities for youth, adults, and families at Morris Park Haven site.

Reporting to the Program Director, you will help with planning, scheduling, compliance, and family engagement while maintaining high standards, coordinating with the DP and other teams, and ensuring DYCD and CACFP requirements are met.

Qualifications

• Associate’s degree is required.
• Equivalent of 1+ years of experience in youth services or community programming accepted.
• Knowledge of the Bronx communities, local stakeholders, and available resources.
• Experience designing, planning, and implementing structured, outcome-based programming.
• Strong administrative skills including documentation, scheduling, and data entry.

Responsibilities

• Support the Program Director in day-to-day oversight and coordination of all program operations.
• Serve as on-site lead during program hours ensuring safety, structure, and engagement.
• Assist with planning, scheduling, and supervising daily program activities and events.
• Monitor activity flow to ensure age-appropriate, culturally responsive programming.
• Foster a positive environment and supervise staff to deliver high-quality programming.
• Coordinate staff onboarding, training, and team huddles with the Program Director.
• Lead staff scheduling and ensure coverage for all sessions and activities.
• Support outreach and family engagement initiatives and community events.
