Flatbush Development Corporation in Brooklyn is seeking a Group Leader for the School of Science & Technology afterschool program. This role supports daily supervision for participants in grades K–8, delivering engaging activities and maintaining safe, structured environments.

You will assist with homework, coordinate literacy and STEAM activities, and work with a program director to ensure compliance with DYCD, DOH, and NYCDOE guidelines.

Competenze

• High School Diploma or GED required; some college or coursework in education or youth development strongly preferred.
• Experience working with school-age children (K–8) in afterschool, camp, or youth development settings.
• Ability to lead activities, manage groups, and engage youth with diverse needs and backgrounds.
• Strong communication, organizational, and interpersonal skills.
• Must pass all required background checks, fingerprinting, and DOE clearance.

Mansioni

• Supervising program participants at all times during program operation and on all program sites including off-site trips.
• Assisting in safe pickup and delivery of participants as directed by the program director.
• Providing active homework assistance to ensure engagement during homework time.
• Planning and implementing engaging literacy, STEAM, youth development, and community service activities.
• Preparing daily lesson plans and unit outlines and using curricular materials to facilitate activities.
• Participating in meetings and workshops to develop professional skills and improve program quality.
