Job Location: Quincy, MA 02169

Salary Range: $18.00 - $20.00 Hourly

Position Overview

The SACC-Group Leader works under the supervision of the Site Coordinator and Afterschool Director to implement classroom curriculum, provide homework assistance, communicate with families, and maintain a safe, healthy, engaging and nurturing Afterschool environment.

Reporting

Reports to: Director – SACC

Responsibilities
  • Plan and execute programs to meet the needs of children and families, ensuring compliance with Department of Early Education & Care (EEC) licensing regulations and YUSA Healthy Eating Physical Activity (HEPA) standards.
  • Provide reasonable accommodations for children with disabilities to participate fully in activities.
  • Directly supervise program participants and volunteers, assigning tasks, monitoring performance, and communicating staff‑related requirements to the Site Coordinator.
  • Build and maintain relationships with families and members, respond to inquiries, resolve problems, and support recruiting of new families.
  • Ensure facilities and equipment are safe, clean, adequately equipped, and well maintained in coordination with the Afterschool Director and Site Coordinator.
  • Engage volunteers, provide training, and support volunteer development.
  • Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and events to strengthen community support.

Qualifications

Minimum requirements for a Group Leader in an EEC‑licensed school‑age program in Massachusetts:

  • Must be at least 18 years old and hold a high school diploma (or equivalent).
  • With a Bachelor's or Associate's degree: at least 3 months of experience working with school‑age children.
  • With a high school diploma/equivalent: at least 6 months of experience working with school‑age children.
