Job summary

Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) is seeking a part-time Program Leader to develop and oversee a variety of academic and enrichment activities for middle school youth at the Aptos Beacon Center. You will design curriculum, coordinate events, and support students with homework while fostering a positive learning environment.

The role emphasizes project-based learning, collaboration with schools and families, and ability to multitask in a dynamic afterschool setting.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree preferred or 48 college units completed or passed an Instructional Aide Exam.
• Experience planning and facilitating enrichment activities for youth.
• Experience in classroom management and restorative practices is a plus.
• Experience with ethnically diverse youth and families facing poverty, crisis or trauma is a plus.
• Ability to develop, implement, and organize programs and events.
• Strong organizational and teamwork skills.
• Capacity to multitask, work independently, and meet deadlines.
• Good technology skills (Google Docs & Sheets, MS Office).
• Bilingual in Cantonese/Mandarin/Tagalog preferred.
• Able to lift or move at least 25lbs.

Responsibilities

• Develop, implement, and oversee skill-building and project-based learning activities for middle school youth.
• Provide academic tutoring and assist students with homework as needed.
• Maintain a positive, safe learning environment and manage behavior using restorative practices.
• Create marketing strategies and promotional materials to recruit and retain youth in afterschool programs.
• Collaborate with school and Beacon staff to coordinate cultural celebrations and events.
• Maintain communication and positive relationships with schools, beacon staff and families.
• Assist with data collection and programmatic reports as requested.
• Assist with evaluating data for funders and program improvement.
• Attend regular staff meetings and ongoing training.
• Maintain cleanliness and organization of shared program spaces.
• Complete other duties as assigned by supervisor.
