Job summary

The Community Youth Center of San Francisco (CYC) seeks a Program Specialist (Middle School Academic Tutor/Behavioral Coach) to deliver tutoring and behavioral coaching during school hours and after school, focusing on core subjects and student engagement.

You will collaborate with teachers and beacon staff, mentor volunteer tutors, and develop incentive plans to boost learning and attendance, while maintaining a safe, supportive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree preferred with 2 years of proven experience in youth development or academic support.
• Experience planning and facilitating enrichment activities for youth.
• Classroom management, conflict mediation, and restorative practices a plus.
• Experience working with diverse youth and families is a plus.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills; ability to multi-task.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-on-one and group tutoring in core subjects and behavioral coaching.
• Collaborate with school day teachers, counselors, and beacon staff to identify high-need students.
• Provide 1:1 light case management to support social-emotional learning.
• Train and support high school volunteer tutors.
• Create incentive plans to increase student engagement and retention.
• Develop and support skill-building and project-based activities for youth.
