Job summary

The YMCA of Greater New York is seeking an Early Childhood Afterschool Teacher at the West Side YMCA in New York, NY. The role runs 3:00-5:30 pm, Monday through Friday, with a focus on a safe, engaging environment for preschool-age children.

You will plan activities across arts, STEM, and SEL, collaborate with staff, and communicate with caregivers to support children's learning and growth. This position offers part-time hours and YMCA benefits.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education or related field with state certification or equivalent.
• At least two years of documented experience with groups of children under six.
• DOH study plan leading to an Associate’s Degree in Early Childhood Education within seven years.

Responsibilities

• Ensure health, safety, and well-being of participants with close supervision.
• Plan and implement age-appropriate activities across arts, STEM, SEL, and nutrition.
• Prepare learning environment, lessons, and necessary supplies.
• Support Activity Specialists with activity implementation.
• Collaborate with program staff and school personnel.
• Promote an inclusive, welcoming environment for diverse participants.
• Maintain positive relationships with parents and caregivers.
• Adhere to DOH, YMCA, and funder standards.
