Job summary

YMCA of Columbia is seeking an enthusiastic part-time After School Assistant to support youth development. You will supervise children, plan engaging, culturally relevant activities, and collaborate with parents and staff to provide a positive, nurturing environment.

The role requires flexibility with hours, including afternoons and evenings, and adherence to safety and program standards. CPR/First Aid/AED is required within 60 days of employment, with additional trainings within 30 days.

Qualifications

• Minimum age 16.
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills.
• Patience, empathy, and enthusiasm for working with children.
• Certifications required within 60 days: CPR, First Aid, AED, Oxygen.
• Complete Child Abuse Prevention, Bloodborne Pathogens and Sexual Harassment training within 30 days.

Responsibilities

• Supervises a group of children.
• Plans and implements developmentally appropriate activities.
• Maintains safety and cleanliness standards.
• Attends staff meetings and trainings.
• Follows YMCA policies, including medical/disciplinary procedures and emergencies.
• Maintains communication with parents and staff.
• Performs other duties as assigned.
