Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking an Site Counselor to lead elementary-age activities after school while supporting literacy and STEAM-infused learning. You will work under the Afterschool Program Director, ensuring safety and program quality aligned with Bright from the Start and YMCA standards.

The role requires strong communication, prior experience with school-age children, and the ability to coordinate with the Site Director on concerns and program development.

Qualifications

• Must be 18 years of age.
• Must meet Bright From the Start (BFTS) credential requirements.
• Experience with school-age children in a group setting is required.
• CPR/First Aid certification or ability to obtain within 30 days of hire.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills; proficient with MS Office and online platforms.

Responsibilities

• Operate the program according to BFTS and YMCA policies and procedures.
• Create an environment with varied activities aligning to program goals.
• Deliver the program in compliance with YMCA and BFTS regulations.
• Report concerns to the Site Director; maintain required training hours.
• Assist with attendance, documentation, and supply coordination as needed.
• Support students with virtual learning assignments as required by their school district.
