Job summary

The YMCA of Metropolitan Atlanta is seeking an Afterschool Counselor II to lead groups of school-age children and support literacy and STEAM-infused activities. The role supports students’ development, monitors behavior, and coordinates with the Site Director.

Requirements include Para Pro Certification or AA/BA, 18+ age, CPR/First Aid within 30 days, and proficiency in Microsoft Office, Google Classroom, and Zoom. Pre-employment checks are required.

Qualifications

• Strong verbal and written communication skills.
• Experience working with school-age children in groups.
• willingness to obtain CPR/First Aid within 30 days of employment.

Responsibilities

• Lead groups in planned activities aligned with school goals.
• Create a safe, engaging environment for program activities.
• Coordinate attendance and supply orders with Site Director.
• Attend trainings and maintain BFTS hours.
• Assist with virtual learning assignments as required by the school district.
