Job summary

Vermont Catholic Schools Office Christ the King School in Burlington seeks an Afterschool Staff Member to provide direct care, supervision, and engaging programming for enrolled children. You will help create a safe, faith-informed environment while following daily schedules and staff assignments.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old and a high school diploma or equivalent (ASP 5.3).
• Complete required background and fingerprint clearances before unsupervised access to children and meet all school, diocesan safe-environment, and employment screening requirements.
• Complete documented orientation before being left alone with children; maintain required first aid/CPR coverage or certification as assigned; complete mandated-reporter, medication, emergency, health-and-safety, and other role-specific training.
• Complete at least 15 hours of annual professional development tied to the IPDP or a 3 credit college courses, in addition to first aid/CPR per year.
• At least 2 year(s) of relevant experience preferred.
• Citizenship, residency or work visa required

Responsibilities

• Provide direct care, active supervision, and developmentally appropriate programming for children enrolled in CH2.
• Support a safe, welcoming, faith-informed environment; follow daily schedule and staff assignments; know names and whereabouts of children.
• Maintain Vermont-required staff-to-child ratios; notify supervisor when staffing or safety could affect compliance.
• Inspect activity and play areas for hazards; enforce safe use of equipment; follow age restrictions for play spaces.
• Use walkie-talkies and other approved communication tools; protect confidentiality in text communications.
• Implement a predictable, engaging program including snack, outdoor play, reading, homework support, and STEM exploration.
• Provide activities appropriate to children's ages; support inclusion and reasonable accommodations.
• Use positive, developmentally appropriate guidance; model patience and the mission and values of Christ the King School.
• Maintain professional boundaries and avoid prohibited discipline.

Education
