Job summary

Christ the King School in South Bend is seeking caring, dependable individuals to join the Kings Club After-School Program team. The role focuses on providing a safe, welcoming, and structured environment for students after dismissal, supervising activities, and supporting student well-being.

Responsibilities include supervising indoor/outdoor play, planning age-appropriate activities, assisting with homework, and reinforcing school expectations.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
• Previous experience with children in school, childcare, camp, youth program, coaching, or similar setting preferred.
• Patient, caring, dependable, energetic, and comfortable working with children of varying ages.
• Ability to actively supervise groups of students and maintain appropriate expectations and boundaries.
• Strong communication and teamwork skills.
• Ability to complete Safe Environment training and required background checks.

Responsibilities

• Provide active and attentive supervision of students enrolled in Kings Club.
• Maintain a safe, positive, structured, and welcoming after-school environment.
• Supervise and engage students during indoor and outdoor play, games, crafts, homework time, snack, and other activities.
• Plan or assist with age-appropriate activities that keep students engaged and active.
• Support students with homework and schoolwork when appropriate.
• Reinforce Christ the King School expectations, routines, and positive behavior.
• Encourage kindness, responsibility, respect, and positive relationships among students.
• Assist with student check-in and dismissal procedures, ensuring students are released only to authorized individuals.
• Help maintain an organized and clean Kings Club environment.
• Communicate effectively with Kings Club leadership, school staff, students, and families.
• Respond calmly and appropriately to student needs, conflicts, minor injuries, or other situations that may arise.
• Maintain appropriate confidentiality regarding students and families.
• Model the faith, values, and Holy Cross mission of Christ the King School through positive and caring interactions with students.
• Complete required training and follow all school and diocesan safety procedures.
• Perform other duties as assigned to support the Kings Club program and Christ the King School community
