Job summary

The JCC East Bay is seeking an Assistant Teacher for Edah in Berkeley, primarily working with Kindergarten through 2nd grade after school. You will support daily routines, co-lead activities, supervise play, and assist with Jewish and Hebrew programming.

This part-time role offers 2–3 days per week from 1:30/2:00 PM to 5:00/5:30 PM, with compensation at $24.84–$25.36 per hour and a welcoming, inclusive learning environment.

Qualifications

• Experience with elementary school-aged children.
• 2+ years in group settings preferred.
• Some college coursework in education, recreation, psychology, human services, or related field.
• Ability to engage and lead groups; strong communication and teamwork.
• Knowledge of Hebrew or Jewish culture is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and engage children during activities.
• Co-lead activities and support curriculum implementation.
• Provide individual and small-group support.
• Support Jewish and Hebrew programming.
