Edah is the JCC East Bay’s Jewish afterschool program, creating a warm and engaging community where children can learn, play, build friendships, and develop meaningful connections to Jewish life.
Our approach centers on knowing our learners and creating experiences that respond to children’s interests, needs, and developmental stages. Through experiential and age-appropriate learning, students engage with Jewish traditions, holidays, Hebrew language, Israeli culture, art, stories, and community life.
Edah aims to create an environment where children feel known, supported, curious, and connected, while giving them opportunities to explore Jewish identity and culture in ways that are joyful, creative, and relevant to their lives.
The JCC East Bay is seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our Edah afterschool program in Berkeley, working primarily with students in Kindergarten through 2nd grade. The Assistant Teacher works closely with the Lead Teacher and other Edah staff to create a warm, inclusive, and engaging environment for children throughout the afternoon. The role includes supporting daily routines and transitions, co-leading activities, supervising play and enrichment, and providing individual and small-group support. The Assistant Teacher will also help support Edah’s Jewish and Hebrew programming and contribute to a positive community where children can learn, explore, and build relationships.
This is a part-time afterschool position, approximately 2–3 days per week. Typical hours are 1:30 or 2:00 PM through 5:00 or 5:30 PM, depending on program needs and availability.
The salary range for this position is $24.84–$25.36 per hour.
