Job summary

The JCC East Bay is seeking an Assistant Teacher to join our Edah afterschool program in Berkeley, supporting Kindergarten through 2nd grade students. You will co-lead activities, reinforce the lead teacher’s curriculum, and provide individual and small-group support in a warm, inclusive Jewish learning environment.

The role is part-time, roughly 2–3 days per week from 1:30/2:00 PM to 5:00/5:30 PM, with compensation of $24.84–$25.36 per hour.

Qualifications

• Experience working with elementary school-aged children.
• 2+ years of experience in group settings.
• Ability to engage in structured and unstructured activities.
• Interest in creating a warm, inclusive Jewish learning environment.
• Knowledge of Hebrew is a plus.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and actively engage children during structured and unstructured activities.
• Co-lead activities and support the lead teacher’s curriculum.
• Provide individual academic, behavioral, and social-emotional support.
• Support classroom routines, transitions, and positive behavior.
• Collaborate with teachers and Edah staff to maintain a safe, welcoming space.
• Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development.
