Job summary

Garland is seeking an Afterschool Aide for Gale Fields Recreation Center. The role involves coordinating homework and tutoring, planning activities, and supervising children aged 5-12 in a safe, engaging after-school program.

The position is part-time (15–20 hours/week) with a 2:30–6:30 pm Monday through Friday schedule. Candidates may need a background check and a valid Texas driver’s license for some duties.

Qualifications

• Must be able to facilitate group games for children ages 5-12 years.
• Ability to communicate information about programs, schedules, and policies to the public.
• Basic knowledge of First Aid and CPR.
• Able to supervise activities and enforce safety rules.

Responsibilities

• Coordinate after-school homework and tutoring sessions.
• Plan and lead recreational activities for children.
• Supervise children during activities and maintain safety.
• Maintain cleanliness and setup for the recreation center.
• Assist in inventory control of equipment and supplies.
• Follow city policies and department rules with customers.
• Keep a daily headcount of children in care.
• Support implementation of scheduled daily activities.
