Job summary

Harris County Department of Education in Houston, Texas is seeking an Afterschool Program Specialist to coordinate and lead enrichment and academic activities for students aged 4-18. This part-time role supports the Nita M.

Lowey 21st Century Communities Learning Center (CCLC) Texas ACE grant across designated campuses. You will develop lesson plans, participate in trainings, and ensure a safe, positive environment while delivering high-quality afterschool experiences.

Qualifications

• Education/Certification: High School Diploma or GED required.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Ability to provide a positive environment for students.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Excellent verbal and written communication skills required.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Excellent organizational skills required.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Flexibility in assignments and work hours for events.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Exemplary customer service.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Bilingual (English/Spanish) a plus.
• Special Knowledge/Skills: Computer skills with Microsoft Office Programs a plus.

Responsibilities

• Lead enrichment and/or academic activities for students ages 4-18.
• Develop and/or implement lesson plans for assigned activities.
• Attend Professional Development trainings.
• Participate in formal and informal activity observations.
• Maintain confidentiality of information.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
