The Town of Ocean City, MD is seeking a dedicated staff member to oversee and support weekly afterschool activities for elementary students at Ocean City Elementary School. The role includes planning lessons, supervising activities, and ensuring safety.
Strong communication with parents and adherence to program rules are essential. Qualifications include a High School Diploma, CPR/First Aid certification, and a valid driver's license, with prior experience in recreation programming preferred.
SUMMARY: Responsible for planning, implementing, and evaluating of weekly afterschool activities for elementary aged children.The program is held at Ocean City Elementary School.

SUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES
May supervise hired instructors, activity assistants, and volunteers, ensuring that duties are carried out in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws.
QUALIFICATIONS

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE
High School Diploma and preferred additional training in recreation programming. Must have at least one year of experience working with elementary aged children.
CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS
Current CPR and Basic First Aid Certification. Valid driver’s license required. Must pass a drug test and background check.
LANGUAGE SKILLS
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, or governmental regulations. Ability to write reports, lesson plans, business correspondence, and procedure manuals. Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients, customers and the general public.
MATHEMATICAL SKILLS
Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, proportions, and percentages. Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals. Ability to apply concepts of basic algebra and geometry.
REASONING ABILITY
Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Must be able to think and act quickly and remain calm under emergency situations. Must be able to make decisions promptly and work unsupervised.
PHYSICAL DEMANDS
The employee must be able to sit/stand for long periods of time. Must be able to physically perform the specific duties of the programed activities.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to stand, walk, use hands to finger, handle, and or/feel; reach with hands and arms; stoop, kneel, crouch, and/or crawl; talk, hear, and smell. The employee frequently is required to stand, walk, run, sit, climb and/or balance. The employee regularly lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
