Job summary

The Town of Ocean City, MD is seeking an After School Program Assistant to support daily operations at Ocean City Elementary School. You will help with setup, instruct activities, and enforce safety rules for elementary students.

Applicants must be at least 16 years old (high school student) and preferably have experience with children. CPR and Basic First Aid certification and a valid driver's license are required, along with passing a drug test and background check.

Qualifications

• High School students at least 16 eligible to apply.
• Preference given to students with experience working with elementary aged children or studying child development/childcare.
• Current CPR and Basic First Aid Certification.
• Valid driver’s license.
• Must pass a drug test and background check.
• Ability to read and communicate basic information.
• Ability to write basic information.

Responsibilities

• Assist Coordinator in the daily operations of an afterschool program for elementary aged children.
• Instruct various age-appropriate recreational activities for children in Kindergarten through 4th grades.
• Set up and break down equipment for daily activities.
• Inspect playing areas and equipment for safety and maintain and inventory of equipment.
• Prepare and serve healthy snacks daily.
• Enforce department rules and procedures and be able to administer discipline and communicate with the parents.
• Administer basic first aid and follow all safety procedures.
