Job summary

YMCA Stark County in Canton, Ohio seeks Assistant Teachers to serve as professional role models for school-aged children, guiding behaviors, supporting safety and supervision, and delivering engaging afternoons.

You will implement curriculum, plan daily activities, supervise the classroom, observe development, communicate with families, and maintain site records; training in first aid/CPR and annual Ohio-approved training provided.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma required.
• Ability to stand for 3-5 hours while leading activities.

Responsibilities

• Assist in implementing curriculum within established guidelines.
• Contribute to daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervise children, classroom, and activities.
• Make ongoing, systematic observations of each child.
• Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
• Maintain program site and equipment; keep records.
• Attend and participate in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and trainings.
• Maintain training in First Aid, CPR, Communicable Diseases, and Child Abuse Awareness; complete 10 hours of Ohio Approved training per year.
