Job summary

YMCA of Central Stark County is seeking an Early Childhood Assistant Teacher to serve as a positive role model for infants, toddlers and preschoolers. The role involves leading by example, encouraging healthy and safe behaviors, and ensuring safety while supervising in a YMCA setting.

The position includes flexible shifts, curriculum support, daily lesson planning, and active supervision. Part-time employment with benefits such as memberships and child care discounts is offered.

Qualifications

• At least 18 years old.
• High school Diploma.
• Ability to be on feet for 3–5 hours while leading and participating in activities.

Responsibilities

• Lead by example for infants, toddlers and preschoolers to promote healthy, safe behaviors.
• Assist in implementing curriculum within established guidelines.
• Contribute to daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervise the children, classroom and all activities.
• Observe and document ongoing, systematic observations of each child.
• Maintain positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
• Maintain program site, equipment and records.
• Keep training current in First aid, CPR, and Ohio-required trainings (10 hours/year).
• Attend family nights, program activities, staff meetings and trainings.

Job description

In search of Early Childhood Assistant Teacher who will serve as a professional role model for infants, toddlers and preschoolers by leading through example, encouraging healthy and safe behaviors, and creating a positive experience while ensuring safety and proper supervision.

Position Description

• Flexible shifts between 6:30am-6:30pm Monday through Friday
• Assist in implementing curriculum within the established guidelines.
• Contribute to the creation and implementation of daily lesson/activity plans.
• Supervises the children, classroom, and all activities.
• Help make ongoing, systematic observations of each child.
• Maintains positive relationships and effective communication with parents.
• Maintains program site and equipment.
• Maintains required program records.
• Maintains training in First aid, CPR, Communicable Diseases and Child Abuse Awareness as well as 10 hours of Ohio Approved training per year. (trainings provided by YMCA and affiliates)
• Attends and participates in family nights, program activities, staff meetings, and staff training.

Minimum Qualifications

• At least 18 years old
• High school Diploma
• Ability to be on feet for 3-5 hours at a time leading and participating in activities

Preferred Qualifications and Skills

• Previous experience in an infant/toddler setting

Starting Pay

$12.35/hr

• Part-time staff receive complimentary memberships and discounted rates for child care and most programs.
