Job summary

Lutheran Social Service of Minnesota is hiring an Afternoon Positive Support Specialist for Intensive Community Residential Services programs. The role supports individuals with complex medical, behavioral, and mental health needs using a person-centered approach to help them reach goals while ensuring safety.

Responsibilities include helping clients gain independence in daily living, advocating for rights and medical care, documenting each shift, and responding to crises with trauma-informed

Qualifications

• Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to work with a variety of individuals.
• Must be able to stand, squat, bend, or walk for long periods; lift 50 lbs.
• Knowledge of local community resources is a plus.
• Must be cleared by a Bureau of Criminal Affairs (BCA) background check and have a driver’s license.

Responsibilities

• Assist individuals to be more independent in performing essential life skills.
• Advocate for individuals in rights, medical care, and community.
• Complete necessary documentation and record-keeping every shift.
• Manage crisis situations safely and effectively, including potential use of manual restraints.
• Engage in trauma-informed care daily.
