Job summary

Bird-Johnson | A Fairbanks Morse Defense Company, based in Walpole, MA, seeks an Aftermarket Sales & Proposal (Capture Lead) to turn complex customer needs into compelling proposals and winning strategies.

You will support assigned accounts, partner with a cross-functional team, and shape strategic proposals that meet requirements while aiming for corporate capture and margin targets. Travel up to 10% is anticipated.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience preferred.
• Five years inside sales and/or supporting customer growth.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Experience with CRM and ERP systems; Salesforce and Oracle preferred.
• Proficient with Word, Excel, and Outlook; advanced Excel (VLOOKUPs).
• Willing to travel up to 10% domestically.
• Ability to work independently and coordinate with internal/external teams.

Responsibilities

• Oversee successful execution of project proposals and keep deliverables on track.
• Develop winning sales strategies using competitive intel and data.
• Present sales strategy to cross-functional teams and leadership.
• Develop proposals and follow up to secure orders.
• Conduct project turnover with Project Managers and Service Centers.
• Cultivate relationships with key accounts as primary contact for inquiries.
• Manage daily business for customers: order updates, delivery changes, and issue resolution.
• Coordinate customer visits and factory visits; lead meetings.
• Collect and analyze customer data to meet objectives.
• Review POs for pricing, quality certificates, and quotes alignment.
• Contribute to sales forecasting through customer communications.
