Job summary

Foundation Communities in Austin, TX is seeking a part-time Youth Program Assistant to lead daily activities and engage K-5 students in after-school and summer programs, including homework help, fitness, reading, and enrichment. The role blends in-person work with virtual programming when needed.

You will prepare lessons, supervise safety, track participation, and promote an inclusive environment. The position runs Monday–Friday 2:30–6:15, with some sites flexible.

Qualifications

• Must be eligible to work in the United States and be able to pass a criminal background check (Fingerprint check required at some sites)
• Minimum 18 years of age; working toward a high school diploma to be earned at the end of the current school year.
• Must enjoy working with children K-5 th grade
• Flexibility to meet the changing work needs and demands
• Ability to lead various fitness activities as well supervise/participate in sports
• Ability to organize activities and make sound judgements
• Ability to interact with a range of age groups
• Available to work at a Learning Center Monday through Friday preferably 2:30-6:15. Start time may be flexible due to high school schedule.

Responsibilities

• Assist Youth Program Assistants plan and lead activities (arts/crafts, STEM/STEAM, reading, character development, physical fitness, nutrition) in-person or online.
• Proficiency with basic computer skills and email suites.
• Use online educational tools such as Google Classroom, Zoom, ClassDojo.
• Prepare learning environment, lessons and supplies for activities.
• Assist children with homework and academic enrichment activities.
• Maintain a clean and organized classroom and common areas.
• Promote an inclusive, welcoming environment and be a positive role model.
• Maintain accurate program documentation and ensure participant safety.
