Job summary

Foundation Communities is seeking a Youth Program Assistant in Austin, TX to lead daily activities for K-5 students in after-school and summer programs. This part-time role combines in-person supervision with optional virtual programming, emphasizing education, fitness, reading, and enrichment.

The position requires engaging youth, preparing lessons, and maintaining a safe, inclusive environment while adhering to CDC guidelines. Opportunities for professional development and growth are included.

Qualifications

• Eligible to work in the United States and pass a background check.
• Must be at least 18 years old and working toward a high school diploma.
• Enjoy working with children in K–5th grade.
• Flexible to meet changing work needs and demands.
• Ability to lead fitness activities and supervise/participate in sports.
• Ability to organize activities and make sound judgments.
• Ability to interact with a range of age groups.
• Available to work Monday–Friday 2:30–6:15 (start time flexible).

Responsibilities

• Plan and lead activities including arts/crafts, STEM/STEAM, reading, and physical fitness in-person and online.
• Prepare learning environments, lessons and supplies for activities.
• Assist children with homework and academic enrichment.
• Maintain a clean, organized classroom and common areas.
• Promote an inclusive, welcoming environment and be a positive role model.
• Maintain accurate program documentation and ensure safety of participants.
• Follow CDC guidelines and comply with policies and regulations.
• Assist with distribution of snacks and meals.
• Other duties as assigned.
