Job summary

The YWCA of the City of New York is looking for a Group Leader to oversee elementary and middle school students in after-school programs. The ideal candidate is passionate about youth development and capable of maintaining a safe and engaging environment for students.

This role includes creating relationships with participants, implementing curricula, and supervising students. Candidates with 2+ years of experience in education and knowledge of anti-racism principles are encouraged to apply.

Qualifications

• 2+ years working in after‑school programs or other education/youth programs.
• Strong in math, reading, and other general academic studies.
• Strong work ethic and professional values.

Responsibilities

• Supervise and ensure the safety and welfare of students.
• Create a positive, engaging learning environment.
• Communicate with parents and DOE teachers regarding student progress.

Skills

Effective behavioral management skills

Communication skills

Knowledge of anti-racism and gender equity principles

Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Education

GED or High School Diploma and enrolled in college
