Job summary

The Young Womens Christian Association of the City of New York is seeking a Group Leader for their after-school programs. The ideal candidate will engage with students, ensuring their safety, and develop innovative curricula that align with educational standards. This role requires passion for youth development and commitment to social justice.

Responsibilities include leading academic support, managing classroom dynamics, and communicating with parents. The position is part-time, operating Monday to Friday from 2 PM – 6 PM. Compensation ranges from $20-$24 per hour.

Qualifications

• 2+ years working in after-school programs or other education/youth programs.
• Commitment to promoting YW-NYC’s social justice mission and educational philosophy.

Responsibilities

• Oversee development and engagement of elementary and/or middle school students in after-school program.
• Lead homework help classroom and support students with tutoring.
• Supervise and ensure the safety and welfare of students.

Skills

Effective behavioral management skills

Excellent interpersonal, verbal and written communication skills

Knowledge of anti-racism and gender equity principles

Strong in math, reading, and other general academic studies

Bilingual (Spanish/English)

Education

GED, High School Diploma and enrolled in college
