Job summary

YM & YWHA of Washington Heights & Inwood is seeking part-time Group Leaders to support middle school students with academic tutoring and STEM, leadership, and arts activities. You will assist lead instructors in preparing students to demonstrate new skills while maintaining a safe, engaging environment.

You will help organize activities, supervise groups, and coordinate with staff to ensure smooth programming throughout the school year.

Qualifications

• Must be at least 18 years old.
• High school diploma required.
• Experience running activities with middle school students (6th-8th).
• Experience writing lesson plans and leading 45–60 minute activities for youth.
• Must attend student engagement trips and assist hosting events.
• Must work Summer Rising program.

Responsibilities

• Provide academic tutoring and supervision to students.
• Organize and promote student participation in activities.
• Supervise groups while ensuring safety and well-being.
• Model professionalism and maintain boundaries.
• Establish behavior rules and maintain order.
• Coordinate with Program Director on changes.
• Participate in staff meetings, program evaluations, and development.
