Job summary

Lake Superior YMCA is seeking a part-time Youth Specialist for the Out of School Time program in the Duluth area. The role involves maintaining a safe, engaging environment, planning and leading academic and enrichment activities, and ensuring adherence to program policies and best practices.

The position requires experience with elementary age youth, CPR/AED and First Aid certifications, and a commitment to equity and inclusion.

Qualifications

• Minimum 16 years of age.
• Experience working with elementary age youth.
• Certifications: Basic CPR/AED and First Aid for adults, children, and infants (required). Training can be provided upon hire.

Responsibilities

• Maintain a safe environment for youth in indoor and outdoor settings, lead daily activities, and manage behaviors.
• Assist youth in emergencies, such as evacuations or medical situations.
• Develop and lead high-quality activities/lessons for youth.
• Communicate with Site Coordinator regarding concerns about children.
• Work cooperatively with children, parents, program and building staff.
• Provide support to volunteers and attend required trainings.
