Job summary

YMCA of Greater Houston Youth Development Site Director supports the work of the Y, a leading nonprofit committed to strengthening community through youth development, healthy living, and social responsibility. The Youth Development Site Director provides direction for the program and staff and implements school-age enrichment program curriculum.

Qualifications

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or GED; minimum 70 clock hours of training in child or youth development, recreational leadership or management.
  • Minimum of two years experience working with youth at a licensed facility, church, school or equivalent setting.
  • Eligible to be listed as a qualified caregiver for Texas Child Care Licensing.
  • CPR, First Aid, AED certifications and Child Abuse prevention trainings.
  • Ability to plan, organize, and implement age-appropriate/developmentally appropriate program activities.
  • Experience working with diverse populations.
  • Supervisory experience preferred.
  • Current TB exam/health requirements and immunizations as required by local/state health departments.
  • Pass a local/state background and FBI fingerprinting check.

Responsibilities

  • Site Management: Oversees daily site operations for safe, nurturing, and enriching environment; maintains spaces, equipment, and compliance postings.
  • Supervision and Safety: Ensures safety and security of children and staff; monitors behavior, conducts headcounts, maintains attendance records.
  • Behavior Management: Applies positive behavior techniques aligned with YMCA guidelines.
  • Program & Policy Compliance: Conducts safety drills and inspections; ensures postings and policies are followed.
  • Program Planning and Implementation: Delivers age-appropriate activities per approved curriculum; fosters positive social interactions.
  • Parent and Community Engagement: Communicates with parents; represents YMCA at school functions; distributes recruitment materials.
  • Administrative Duties: Maintains enrollment/attendance records; supports data collection and reporting for grants.
  • Program Growth and Retention: Supports recruitment and enrollment efforts; tracks attendance and balances.
  • Program Quality: Plans/implements lessons; monitors YMCA Youth Program Quality processes; uses data for improvements.
  • Child Abuse Prevention: Reports concerns; adheres to mandated reporting and safety protocols.
